THEODISIAN VIEWS IN ANCIENT PHILOSOPHY (HISTORICAL INSIGHT)

Abstract

The relevance of this study is due to humanity's ongoing interest in questions of philosophy, religion, and religious studies. Simultaneously, this paper provides a detailed analysis of the attitudes of Near Eastern religions and Greek polytheism toward the existence of good and evil, as well as their comparative analysis. The geographical and temporal limitations of the study are also determined by the need to update the research, as it concerns, on the one hand, the region where Christianity originated and, on the other, defines the basis of such an important direction of Christian doctrine as theodicy. The article proves that one of the reasons for the development of philosophy was the anthropomorphism of the Greek gods.
